About Me

I began making jewelry in my sophomore year of high school when I stumbled into the medium one day while playing with a piece of wire.  I have always been inclined towards the arts, craft and working with my hands, but once I discovered jewelry I found a focus that propelled me forward. The combination of materials, scale, fine detail and the preciousness of the objects I was creating really grabbed me. I proceeded to teach myself whatever I could, and soon began taking pre-collage classes at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Later I interned with Philadelphia jeweler Amanda Elizabeth which opened my eyes to the larger world of craft jewelry.

Deciding to pursue jewelry further I attended Massachusetts College of Art and Design, in Boston. There I studied with professors and craft jewelers Joe Wood and Heather White. Through many successes and failures I began to find my hand as a craft jeweler.  My work continually had a focus on nature or was inspired by the interactions and discovery I had with the world around me.  I graduating in 2014 with my senior body of work “Cell Forms” for which I receiving third place in MassArt’s Helen Blair Crosbie 3D Award for a selection of my pieces including Asphalt Necklace.

Outside of my artistic practice I am an avid outdoorsman and climber. I spend portions of the year working as an outdoor educator and instructor, leading young people on challenging outdoor adventures.  I am continually inspired by the interactions and discoveries I make from the world around me.  Through my experiences in unique wild and natural places and the everyday world we live in. I have found that my work relates to these experiences and my fascination with my environment.
